Another Kenosha Lakefront Mosaic

On the public beach restrooms, of all places, is a neat little mosaic celebrating Kenosha's 150th anniversary.

Kenosha originally was called Pike, and then Southport, before becoming Kenosha in 1850.  It is the fourth largest city in Wisconsin with a population right around 100,000 residents.  We lived there for 6 years when we first got married, and for the last 9 years we've lived at the very edge of Kenosha County so K-Town is probably the closest thing we have to "roots" in this country.  More murals at Oakland Daily Photo!

  2. Very pretty mural. You asked about the tick situation in the places I hike. In the wet forests on the west side of the Cascades, I have never had a tick (nor has my dog). I think it's too wet for them. But ticks are notorious for hanging out in the drier grassy lands on the eastern side of the mountains, especially in the spring.

    1. Thanks for the info, I had a feeling ticks were uncommon out there, should have thought it was probably due to the high moisture level. Ticks are ridiculous out here this year!

  3. My knowledge of your state was a bit fuzzy, so I googled Kenosha to see exactly where it was. It really isn't that far away from Ontario as I'd imagined!
Anyway, that is a neat mosaic with a very stylized 150!

  6. The lighthouse and the boats are so appealing. The mosaic design is skillfully rendered and adds its own texture to the overall scene. Thanks for contributing to this week's Monday Mural.
