Superior City Hall

Since we traveled through Superior on our way through Duluth to Minnesota's North Shore back in May I figured it was time to pull this mural from my solo trip in 2013 out of hiding.

There's not a lot of good old architecture left in the town of Superior, some towns just tore down the old to make way for the new.  City Hall and the old Police Department around the back are still standing in Superior though.

There's a bake shop inside, as well as some offices up above, but the big surprise was the murals going down into the Red Mug coffee shop.

And then up to the ground level inside as well. I love the police theme.

I had a cinnamon roll that was okay, but their bread smelled magnificent when I got upstairs. Linking up to Monday Mural.

  1. Looks a bit under influence of the Mexican painters like Diego Riviera with its earth colors. I like it.

  3. We have a coffee shop here that has the same style of mural, so it definitely says 'coffee with music' to me!

  4. That's a shame that the just tore down the old and rebuilt. Seems to me that nearly every old building was much more artistic and much better built than anything built since WWII. Nice murals though. I agree with the Riviera comment.

  6. Yes to a nod to Rivera (and Orozco). Plus I got a flash of WPA art in these murals. What a cool find when all you were hankering for was a cup of joe and a nosh. Thanks for contributing to this week's Monday Mural.
