I Give a Hoot

We're in Michigan today, we stopped in to see our daughter Katrina in Menominee last night and today we'll be hitting the road.  Saturday she called me at home to tell me the story of how she printed out some owl coloring pages off the internet and was trying to draw owls when a little girl at the shelter she works at said, "I don't want to hurt your feelings, but you're not very good at drawing, are you?"  Mom to the rescue!  I'm not good at "drawing" either, but I am good at copying other people's ideas and good at changing things I print out to a different scale.  It just so happened that I had a few darling owls up my sleeve that I printed off back when I was so into scrapbooking so I couldn't wait to see what I could work up.  I still have a ton of supplies even though I'm not into it anymore so Sunday I spent more hours than I'd like to admit being creative and coming up with some fun owls for Katrina's office door.

That's my door at home, but you get the idea.  Katrina is the Youth Advocate and spends a lot of time with kids at the shelter and also at schools in 3 counties.  She wanted to make her office kid-friendly and she loves owls.  I hope the kids like them, because I'm on to making spooky Halloween dudes and penguins wearing scarves and hats next!

Our next stop is Straits State Park in St. Ignace, Michigan.  I was hoping to run into the Brights while we were there, but I think they've hit the road again already.  I guess Sharon will be the first blogger I meet in person after all when we make it to Tennessee in October!
