On the side of the building was a tile mural depicting students and their teacher at the Juddville school around 1880. The tiny unincorporated village of Juddville is usually overlooked when folks visit Door County, but it has interesting stories to tell. I liked the one about the villagers cutting holes in the ice of Lake Michigan for the cows to drink from.
In addition to the murals was a piece titled "Pillar Quartet". I really liked it, but I didn't have $9,600 to take it home with me.
The other tile mural on the grounds is titled "Take me Out to the Ball Game" and shows a group of boys in Forest Park, Illinois.
More stories from Door County tomorrow!
Love that they reproduced the old photos into murals to share! The Pillar is very cool but a little pricey!!
ReplyDeleteWe are so looking forward to spending the fall in this area since we have not visited before. Please mash as many mosquitos and ticks as you like. We plan to ride the Door County Century on our bikes in Sept
