Beautiful Distraction

On Monday morning I left early without Wayne to get a morning hike in.  It's a good thing I left early because even though is was only a 20 minute drive to the trailhead it took me at least an hour to get there.  Not because of traffic though.

I got a little distracted by the views of the Middle Prong of the Little River.

I stopped at almost every pullout, enjoying each bend.

There was no one else passing me on the roadside and I cherished the quiet time I had with nothing but the roar of the water to listen to.

I know many of you love a sunny day, but I like it cloudy especially during fall color.  The soft light really makes those yellow leaves pop.

Today we are driving home because our son Cory was in  a minor car accident.  He suffered a fractured clavicle and slight concussion but thankfully that is all.  The car is another story.  It turns out that not making it all the way to South Carolina was a good thing so we could get home more speedily.  More adventures on the trails in the Smokies will just have to wait, but I do have a few more posts to come about our short stay.

  2. With scenery like that, I'd be making lots of stops too! And, yes cloudy days are the best for photographing moving water and fall colors. Sorry to hear about your son, but sounds like he escaped serious injury!

  4. So sorry to hear about your son and the car. Glad he is OK. These are some of the most beautiful pictures I've seen. You are so right about the light, cloudy is better. Just outstanding! What a gorgeous river.

  5. I can see how you got distracted. A fractured clavicle? I hope that's not as bad as it sounds.
