All my new favorites were there, including Squirrel Corn.
And Dutchman's Britches were so plentiful I felt I must be seeing double for sure.
Another thing we saw plenty of in the U.P. was chipmunks. This little guy posed in perfect light so how could I resist?
He was obviously looking to get into show business because he even put on a show for us.
But, the reason we drove up to Miners Castle at the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore was to see the sunset. Nothing like golden light hitting that rock, right?
While we all oohed and aahed, Joe spotted a little woodpecker who was closer than they normally allow.
Even though the sun dipped behind clouds at the crucial moment, it was still very pretty.
Funny how I'm turning into a person who returns to certain spots to try to delve into all its secrets. I'm hoping to get up to Munising again in August or September for a solo camping trip and really explore the North Country Trail. Maybe I'll see a great sunset every night!
SUPER shots Pam; such a treat to come visit your trails with you
ReplyDeleteNow if you start the North Country Trail there, you could end up walking right past my rig here in Tamarac! ;)
ReplyDeleteNice sunset pic. And lucky you - coming across a chipmunk supermodel! :)
ReplyDeleteOk, we're on our way to Pictured Rocks. Where do we pick up the North Country trail to see what you saw? Miner's Castle - check, on my list. Is that ice in the water still? We'll be there in about a week and a half. Hope we can get sunsets and pictures as good as these. Hope even more we can find somewhere to park Winnona. LOL
ReplyDeleteAlthough I didn't do that trail late in the day, I did pick the last boat trip of the day. It was beautiful.
