I'll admit that my attention wandered during the commencement speech, but the one thing I remember is the speaker encouraging the graduates to "show up" .
"While this commencement is a celebration of results you've attained, to me and to the world, it is not a finish line, but a starting block. A starting block for you, the class of 2013, to explode out of and race into the world with gusto. Constantly be superheroes of your own life and never, ever forget to show up."
Good advice for all of us, no matter what stage of life we're currently experiencing.
Congrats on raising a college graduate! My daughter graduates from Oregon State University on June 15th. I'll have a post similar to yours in a few weeks!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to you and your very together daughter. It sounds like she really knows what she wants out of life and has worked to get it. Hope she gets the Appleton job.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations with the graduate, a day to remember.
ReplyDeleteCongrats to your daughter and her choice of professions to help others.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to you and your daughter who sounds like an amazing woman.
ReplyDeleteThanks to everyone for their support, we're so proud of her determination to help other women whether by working for Planned Parenthood or somewhere else. All because we had the option to customize her curriculum by homeschooling and she fell in love with the history of women's rights issues! I hope everyone else's graduates find something they love and are able to dedicate their lives to it.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on a milestone achieved.
