A visit to St. John's isn't complete without a stroll down Water Street and a look inside the Downhome Shoppe where you can buy some Newfie memorabilia, or just have a good laugh at some of the items on display.

The big surprise was all the signs of Gay Pride downtown. Who says Newfoundland is backwards? Not in today's world of global news, information, and ideas. Even the crosswalk in little Placentia was painted in the Gay Pride rainbow, and it gladdened my heart to know that Newfoundland is working so hard to promote love and not hate.
We didn't go into the candy store, but couldn't help noticing it, that's for sure.

I was agreeable since I was busy working on the world's best tasting cinnamon roll that I bought at Rocket Bakery. There's always room for a cinnamon roll before lunch, right?
There is lots to see in the oldest city in North America, and even on a gray day you can be sure to find some color to cheer you up! Just be careful on those hilly streets!
Love that place. Was first there in 1972 on a USCG ship. Then was back in an RV in 2015..still a great place:)
