One of the last maples in its full glory |
Fall comes and goes quickly in southeastern Wisconsin, so I've been trying to get outside and enjoy it. With a few hours to spare the other day I headed over to Williams Bay for a walk along Lake Geneva.
The Shore Path is 26 miles long and follows the shoreline of Lake Geneva, if you're up for it. I attempted a few sections in the past, but found that I prefer woods hiking to staring at the lakefront homes of the wealthy.
I'm happy with the simple life, and content to enjoy the same views they pay for at the thrifty price of FREE. If you go for a walk, please stay on the path and respect the privacy of the homeowners.
When walking the Shore Path it's always fun to watch the path change as you cross the different properties, and I prefer Williams Bay to Lake Geneva because it's less traveled and a little more level.
The village is busy putting up Christmas scenes along the path, so perhaps the cruise line does a holiday trip featuring them.
You know me, I'm always making sure to stop and notice the small details, like this tiny plant growing in the heart hanging on the gate leading to someone's boat house.
The boathouse was adorable as well, not to mention the weather vane on its roof. But boating season is coming to a close, piers are coming out of the lakes, and soon it will be ice shacks dotting the lakes of Wisconsin!
